Welcome to the Applied Population Ecology Lab, part of the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara. It is headed by Professor Bruce Kendall and is a center for research on quantitative conservation, invasive species, and fisheries management. We also do basic research in population ecology.
Most of the science in the lab uses mathematical models, statistical analysis of long-term data, and remote sensing data. Many of the projects involve some combination population demography, nonlinear dynamics, and spatial modeling. Many of the students in the lab also collect field data as part of their research.
